Dry Climate Filters Gymnosperms but Not Angiosperms through Seed Mass

In the context of climate change in recent years, fate woody plant seed has an important impact on forest regeneration. Seed mass is reproductive strategy plants. There are huge differences between gymnosperms (mainly conifers) and angiosperms (flowering plants) terms reproduction hydraulic strategies; however, little known about changes along aridity gradients taxonomical groups such as angiosperms, which limit our understanding plants under warming-induced drying. We collected data from a total 2575 individuals, including 145 species 1487 across different climatic zones China. mapped distribution pattern gymnosperm angiosperm China, with being maximal near 400 mm iso-precipitation line. Our phylogenetic analysis results show that exhibited significant phylogenic signals (p < 0.001) was also strongly influenced by functional traits (growth type, fruit dispersal mode). The linear regression hierarchical partitioning showed stronger correlation environmental factors, higher independent index effect than mass. patterns gradient may point to future fates for these two taxonomic groups, while sensitivity conditions reduce their rate background warming
